Saudi Arabia’s water and electricity minister, Abdullah Ben Abdelrahman Al-Hussein, arrived in Cairo to meet with officials over possible cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, state news agency MENA reported.

The minister will meet with officials to discuss potential projects in the electricity sector.

The Egyptian cabinet approved in January funding for a $1.6 billion project to link the electricity grids of Egypt and Saudi Arabia, where they would share 3,000 megawatts of electricity by 2017.
