Weatherford to Support Egypt’s Efforts to Boost Production, Improve Efficiency

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi explored opportunities with Girish Saligram, President and CEO of the Oil services Company Weatherford, to strengthen cooperation, focusing on advanced technologies to boost oil and natural gas production, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs in Egypt, according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR).

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2026), where both sides examined opportunities to expand the use of digital solutions and advanced technologies across Egypt’s petroleum sector.

Badawi emphasized deploying Weatherford’s technologies in drilling, well completion, maintenance, and production optimization, particularly to improve mature-field performance, increase oil and gas recovery, offset natural production declines, and reduce operating costs.

Saligram presented the company’s digital solutions, including real-time well monitoring, predictive maintenance, and integrated production management systems, which help identify operational challenges, improve asset efficiency, and maximize production capacity.

The meeting also explored Weatherford’s potential support for Egypt’s intensified exploration and drilling plans through advanced equipment, technical services, faster well drilling and completion, technology transfer, and local workforce training. Both sides expressed interest in expanding cooperation to boost domestic oil and gas production, reduce costs, maximize resource use, and accelerate the connection of new wells to production.

Weatherford International is a US-based oilfield services company providing technologies and solutions for drilling, well construction, completion, and production optimization. It operates in more than 75 countries worldwide.

Weatherford has been operating in Egypt for decades; it  has also supported Egypt’s digital transformation through a project to digitize 100 wells at Khalda Petroleum Company’s Western Desert
