MOPCO Reports Uninterrupted Operations Despite Reported Gas Supply Cuts to Fertilizer Plants
Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) confirmed that its operations continue uninterrupted despite reports of a 20% reduction in natural gas supplies to fertilizer plants amid rising import costs.
In a disclosure to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), the company said it is adjusting production rates in line with available natural gas supplies, but did not specify whether the reported 20% reduction has been applied to its facilities or disclose any impact on output.

MOPCO added that it remains committed to disclosing any material developments on time, in accordance with the disclosure rules governing companies listed on the EGX.

Established in 1998 in Damietta, MOPCO is Egypt’s largest nitrogen fertilizer producer, specializing in urea and ammonia production.

In 2025, the company produced 1.7 million tons of urea and 1.1 million tons of ammonia, achieving 102% of its planned production targets. It also exported 956,000 tons of urea, representing 55% of its total urea sales, with 95% of those exports directed to European markets.
