German utility RWE may set up a new solar and wind plant in Egypt to power its oil production there, a German newspaper said, citing an official from the company.

The company is considering “whether it makes sense to build a power plant at an oil production site at our unit RWE Dea in Egypt,” German daily Handelsblatt cited research chief Frank-Detlef Drake as saying in an excerpt of an article to be published on Thursday.

It said RWE aims to create an “economical and stable power supply” for its production sites, adding another power plant was planned in Morocco.
