Monday Minutes: Economic Snapshot

The net international reserves reached $45.5 million by the end of February, according to CBE.

The value of outgoing pensions increased by 5.8%, amounting to EGP 78.3 billion in FY 2018/19 against 74.0% in FY 2017/18, according to Al Ahram.

CAPMAS reported that petroleum products exports increased by 258.8%, recording $119.2 million in January 2019 against $33.2 million during the same period in 2018.

Women’s participation in governmental jobs reached 45% in Egypt, while the average is 32% worldwide, according to MPED.

The contribution of women, who have over 15 years of service , to labor force has reached 15.6% against 67.3% for men in 2019, according to CAPMAS.

89 seats of Egypt’s House of Representatives went to women who represent 15% of it, an increase from 2% participation in 2011, MPED reported.

Women’s participation in SMEs reached 50% and women in executive roles rate have reached 7.1% in Egypt since the 2030 Entrepreneurs program launched in 2018, compared to 5.4% in the MENA region, according to MPED.
