Meleiha Base, located in the Western Desert, hosted a two-day technical workshop where field engineers from various operators in the region came together to exchange experiences, discuss operational challenges, and explore ways to enhance efficiency and safety.
This workshop, held on October 6th and 7th, was the third and final in a series of technical sessions organized as part of the Egypt Oil & Gas Group’s 11th Convention, scheduled for December 1st. The series was held in collaboration with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
The workshops were designed to strengthen professional ties and foster cooperation among companies operating in Egypt’s oil and gas sector. The outcomes and insights from all three workshops will contribute to shaping the dialogue and direction of Egypt’s upstream sector during the upcoming convention.
As part of the Meleiha event, DNV, a global expert in risk assessment, certification, and technical advisory, delivered a session titled “Enhancing Process Safety through Advanced Software System Synergi Life.” The presentation highlighted the importance of building a robust Process Safety Management (PSM) framework supported by digital implementation using software like Synergi Life. This software enables organizations to capture, analyze, and act on safety, operational, and sustainability risks.
Osama Elsaadawy, an energy expert representing DNV, demonstrated how digital transformation can elevate safety governance across Egypt’s oil and gas operations.
Among the sector’s leadership attending the workshop was Tamer Idris, Deputy Chairman for Production at EGPC. Opening and closing remarks were delivered by Tharwat El Gendy, Chairman of Agiba and Walid Anwar Deputy Chairman of the EGPC for the Supervision of Foreign and Joint Venture (JV) Companies.
Presentations were given by representatives from several Western Desert companies, including Agiba, Khalda, PetroFarah, PetroShahd, Badr Eldin Petroleum Company (BAPETCO), Badr Petroleum Company, and the North Bahariya Petroleum Company (Norpetco).
The first workshop in the series was held at Ras Shoukair Base in the Gulf of Suez on September 9th and 10th, followed by the second at El-Gamil Base in Port Said on September 23rd.
