Cheiron, a leading Egyptian exploration and production (E&P) company, has announced the appointment of Shamrendra Singh as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Singh officially assumed the role on April 17th, 2025.
Singh brings a wealth of experience to Cheiron, having previously served as General Manager and Managing Director for Bapetco. A handover period from his prior responsibilities will extend until May 4th, 2025, ensuring a smooth transition.
Prior to his tenure at Bapetco, Singh held the position of Asset Manager for the Elgin hub and J Area assets in the North Sea for BG UK Upstream. He also played a key leadership role in developing and implementing a new target operating model during the integration of Shell and BG.
A distinguished graduate, Singh earned a Bachelor of Technology in Petroleum Engineering (Gold Medalist) from the esteemed Indian School of Mines Dhanbad in 1999.
This strategic appointment comes as Cheiron continues its focus on expanding its reserves through near-field exploration, maximizing the value of its existing producing assets, and unlocking potential in mature fields. With its primary assets currently located in Egypt, Cheiron also has ambitions to broaden its international presence, diversifying its asset portfolio geographically and by product, with a growing emphasis on natural gas.
