The Ministry of Petroleum’s Annual Safety Day 2018, held on December 6 at the Egyptian Drilling Company’s (EDC) headquarters in Cairo, brought together oil and gas leaders to discuss safety culture, leadership, and best practices.
In celebration of its 80th anniversary in Egypt, Schlumberger inaugurated on December 12, 2018 the Egypt Center of Efficiency (ECE) facility, located at the Polaris Industrial City in 6th of October.
Schlumberger held on October 22 the Schlumberger OneSurface Technology Day to introduce its new OneSurface product line. The event, which took place at the Renaissance Hotel in Cairo, was divided into two main parts: the first to share the overall OneSurface technology portfolio, services, and products; and the second to discuss specific technologies that could support some of the pillars of the Ministry of Petroleum’s Modernization Program.
Egypt Oil & Gas (EOG) launched the first Field Best Practices Workshop on September 22. The event took place at the Qarun field in the Western Desert under the High Patronage of H.E. Eng. Tarek El Molla, Egypt’s minister of petroleum. The one-day workshop was technically prepared by the Egypt Oil & Gas Technical Committee and sponsored by Apache, and offered an opportunity for field engineers to share best practices in oil and gas upstream operations.
The British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) held a dinner on July 9 in honor of the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla. The event, that took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cairo, saw El Molla deliver a speech to prominent figures from Egypt’s domestic oil and gas sector, international oil companies (IOCs), and members of BEBA. The minister commented on the latest achievements of the Egyptian petroleum industry and the development of the sector’s Modernization Program.
The Hamburg-based DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG, which is currently investing $500 million on its facilities in Egypt, has announced in July that it will double its production in the country in the coming couple of years.
A year ago, Schlumberger started the first phase of its protocol with the Egyptian Ministry of Manpower to train young technicians and to empower them to cope with work in the private sector. On May 7 2018, the company hosted a celebratory event in Cairo to honor 110 graduates from its Technician Development Training Program Protocol.
The pioneering technology leader ABB exhibited the world’s first truly collaborative industrial robot during its Digital Ability Show, held in Cairo on May 8 and 9. YuMi, the collaborative, dual arm, small parts assembly robot, was displayed alongside other innovative digital solutions to optimize industrial operations in Egypt’s energy sector.
The 12th edition of the Egypt Oil & Gas Ramadan Petroleum Soccer Tournament kicked off on May 27 with the participation of 12 oil and gas companies. AlMansoori, Dara, DEA Egypt, Maridive Group, Petronas, Petroshahd, SAPESCO, Schlumberger, TKIS Egypt, TOYOTA TSUSHO, Triangle Group, and West Bakr kept the ball rolling until June 1 at Cairo’s Manaret El Farouk School.
The Executive Committee of the International Gas Union (IGU) held its annual meeting in Cairo under the Chairmanship of David Carroll, President of the IGU. The closing meeting took place at the Nile-Ritz Carlton on April 19th, with the honorable presence of the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, H.E. Eng. Tarek El Molla.
