Iran Postpones Major Oil Conference to February

The “Iran Oil and Gas Summit Post Sanctions” event in Britain’s capital is scheduled for February 22-24, said Seyed Mehdi Hosseini, head of the country’s oil contracts re-negotiation team, reported AFP.

“It is predicted sanctions relief will start from January 2016, so the London conference date is in February,” he added.

The terms of post-sanctions oil contracts will be showcased at a November 21-22 conference in Tehran.

According to Press TV, Iran’s fourth postponement of the key London conference last month came after US pressures on the UK government.

Diplomatic sources had told Reuters the decision came after US officials conveyed concerns to British diplomats that the original venue, December 14, was before the final lifting of sanctions outlined in the July nuclear accords.

Hosseini had also said the London conference was delayed amid anticipation that sanctions relief would start from January 2016.

“After the official lifting of sanctions in January, foreign companies and investors can attend this conference without any international restrictions,” he told reporters on Saturday.
