Leading telecommunications operator in the UAE Etisalat hosted a one-of-its-kind industry event which shed light on information and communication technology (ICT) solutions for the country’s modernised energy sector.
Led by Etisalat’s senior officials, the workshop focused on the role of technology in fuelling business transformation for energy and utility companies, enabling higher efficiencies.
More than 85 top industry professionals discussed industry challenges and respective ICT solutions such as mobility, managed services, machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, cloud and security.
The energy and utilities industry is complex and growing, but also needs to be modern and efficient, said a statement.
From analytics to networking to mobility, the ICT opportunities are abound for this sector to survive the upheavals in market and collapsing business cycles, it said.
Though this dynamic industry can be fraught with uncertainty, specialised ICT solutions from an experienced service provider can do a great deal to protect businesses in unforeseen times of market crisis.
ICT plays a crucial role in almost every aspect of its growth and change – from developing roadmaps for plant operations to infrastructure assets tracking; from maintaining internal networks to building wireless mesh networks spanning the breadth and depth of a field.
Salvador Anglada, chief brand officer, said: “Network connectivity is certainly the life line of today’s businesses, and no industry can relate to this fact better than the energy and utilities organisations. By serving their critical IT needs, anytime, anywhere, Etisalat has fortified its position as a preferred ICT partner for Energy and Utilities sector in the Middle East and Africa.”
