Egypt and the UAE have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in oil, gas and energy, including increasing Emirati investment in Egypt’s petroleum sector and boosting the participation of Egyptian companies in major UAE projects, according to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on November 3.
This came during a meeting between Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, and UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2026).
The talks covered opportunities to strengthen cooperation across the energy sector, make greater use of investment opportunities and existing infrastructure in both countries, and support regional energy market integration and security of supply.
The two sides reviewed progress on projects agreed in October 2025 with the Emirate of Fujairah, including establishing an Egyptian joint-stock company to develop a logistics zone in New Alamein on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast for storing and trading crude oil and petroleum products.
The officials stressed the need to advance these projects to expand crude oil and petroleum product handling and storage capacity, increase trading and re-export opportunities, and strengthen Egypt’s role as a regional energy trading hub.
The meeting also addressed cooperation with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its subsidiaries, particularly through Arcius Energy, which is developing natural gas resources in Egypt.
The two sides discussed opportunities to increase ADNOC’s investment in oil and gas exploration and production and expand the involvement of Egyptian petroleum companies, including ENPPI and Petrojet, in ADNOC projects in the UAE.
The officials also explored expanding the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in oil and gas operations.
