Sinai Manganese Targets 50,000‑Ton Output by 2028

Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem inspected the Sinai Manganese Company’s alloy plant in Abu Zenima Industrial Zone, South Sinai, to review the company’s production activities and expansion plans. The plant currently has an annual production capacity of 18,000 tons, which is targeted to rise to 50,000 tons by the end of 2028. It incorporates a 60 %t local component, with about 49 % of its output exported to Turkey, Libya, Italy, and other markets.

The facility, according to a statement by the ministry of Industry,   produces silicomanganese and ferromanganese alloys and operates on an area of 23,500 square meters, with investments of EGP 2.5 billion and paid-in capital of EGP 300 million

During the visit, Hashem and South Sinai Governor Ismail Kamel met with  Sinai Manganese officials to discuss development plans, including efforts to maximize value added from mineral resources, promote sustainable mining practices, adopt advanced technologies, and expand exports. The list of the company’s planned  projects includes kaolin calcination, agricultural gypsum, medical glass, flat glass, solar panels, and a project to separate iron from manganese.

Hashem also inaugurated a new dust and gas filtration system designed to reduce gaseous emissions and dust generated during production, improving the plant’s environmental performance and working conditions.

He further inspected the construction site of the iron-manganese separation and high-manganese slag production plant, which is scheduled to begin operations by August 2027. The minister also reviewed the alloy storage yards, sintering machine, and loading facilities and services at Abu Zenima Port.

Hashem said alloy production is a key input for Egypt’s iron, steel, and heavy industries, helping improve steel quality and properties. Rising engineering and construction demand is expected to support alloy consumption, enabling Sinai Manganese to boost local production, reduce imports, and lower production costs.

He added that the Ministry is working to expand supporting industries, integrate them into local and global supply chains, increase local value added and competitiveness, reduce the import bill, and boost exports.

Sinai Manganese Company is a subsidiary of the Chemical Industries Holding Company.
