Egyptian Maintenance Company (EMC), known as San Misr, has secured an international tender launched by Italy’s Eni to supply electrical equipment and components for the Zubair oil field in Iraq, under a contract valued at approximately $18.6 million.
The three-year contract covers the supply of a wide range of electrical equipment required for production units and power stations at the Zubair field in Basra Governorate, according to the company’s statement.
The scope includes medium- and low-voltage equipment, electrical distribution panels, motor control centers, and other electrical components associated with the various facilities and infrastructure that support the project.
The contract marks a new step in EMC’s efforts to expand its presence in regional and international markets and strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian petroleum-sector companies abroad.
EMC said the agreement reflects its technical capabilities and expertise in energy and specialized maintenance services, as well as its ability to meet the requirements of major international projects in line with quality and efficiency standards.
The company added that the contract supports the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ (MoPMR) strategy of enhancing the added value of Egyptian petroleum companies, expanding their activities in overseas markets, and leveraging their technical expertise and human resources.
The Zubair field is one of Iraq’s major oil fields and is operated by Eni in partnership with Iraq’s state-owned South Oil Company and other partners. The field is located in Basra in southern Iraq, one of the country’s key oil-producing regions.
EMC’s latest contract comes as Egyptian petroleum-sector companies seek to increase their international activities by leveraging their technical and operational capabilities and securing projects across regional markets.
In June 2026, EMC won a 10-year, approximately €46 million contract to undertake long-term maintenance of natural gas turbines at the Arab Potash Company’s power generation facility in Jordan.
