LPG Vessel Stranded in Nigeria

MT Gaz Providence vessel carrying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) was stranded at Apapa Jetty in Lagos due to lack of berthing space. The cargo was chartered from the company’s Bonny Island plant, Nigeria Today reported.

Berthing space at the North Oil Jetty (NOJ) at Apapa was occupied by a vessel that imported petrol for Forte Oil Plc, which was detained by the Nigeria Customs Service after it had discharged product for the major marketer, according to All Africa.

The detention of the petrol vessel caused panic for cooking gas marketers as major gas plants had exhausted their product and were waiting for the vessel.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has three wharves that constitute the Apapa Jetty, all used by vessels to discharge petroleum products. The marketer further stated that the absence of berthing space might force NLNG to divert vessels to a private facility.
