Fuel Consumption Decreases by 5% in July

Fuel consumption declined by 5% during July, following the introduction of the automatic fuel pricing mechanism, a source in Misr Petroleum Company reportedly told Amwal Al-Ghad.

Total petroleum products consumption decreased to 2.2 million tons, compared with previous levels at 2.4-2.5 million tons a month.

Diesel consumption shrank to 1.1-1.2 million tons, compared with 1.2 million tons a month at the beginning of 2019. Meanwhile, butane consumption stood at 330,000 tons.

Moreover, the petroleum sector is currently pumping sufficient petroleum product supplies that exceed local demand to ensure market stability, while Mist Petroleum has maintained the same level of supplies as before the price changes.

The source further noted that Misr Petroleum has pumped around 2.1 million liters of 92-octane gasoline per day, as the company’s highest consumed product.
