El Molla: Egypt Working on Updating the National Sustainable Energy Strategy

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla stated that Egypt is currently working on updating the national sustainable energy strategy to include hydrogen as a clean fuel.

El Molla’s remarks came during his participation in a discussion panel entitled “Green Industry.. The Way to COP 27 Summit,” which was a part of the “Egypt Can Do It” conference, organized by the Ministry of Migration.

During the panel, El Molla stressed that hosting COP 27 is an international appreciation certificate for Egypt’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and preserve the environment. He also affirmed Egypt’s commitment to all the agreements and initiatives in this regard.

He referred to the successful initiative of maximizing natural gas utilization. El Molla also mentioned the cooperation agreements and protocols signed during the last period with the major international companies for hydrogen and clean energy production.

Regarding COP 27, El Molla affirmed that Egypt will represent African and developing countries at the summit and it will be responsible for presenting the challenges facing these countries in using their available energies. He highlighted that Egypt will launch an African initiative aiming to allow using the available energy resources and provide the needed funds and technologies for supporting energy transition in Africa.
