ADNOC Gas, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), has signed a five-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement with French energy major TotalEnergies, under which it will supply up to 1.6 million tons (mmt) of LNG. The first deliveries are expected to begin in 2026.
The agreement strengthens the two companies’ long-standing partnership and supports TotalEnergies’ LNG supply portfolio, benefiting from the UAE’s strategic location between European and Asian markets.
Stéphane Michel, President of Gas, Renewables and Power at TotalEnergies, said the agreement marks an important milestone in the companies’ partnership and reinforces their commitment to long-term cooperation. He added that the new supplies would strengthen TotalEnergies’ position as a major supplier to its LNG portfolio.
For her part, Fatema Al Nuaimi, CEO of ADNOC Gas, said growing global LNG demand presents opportunities for the company. She added that the agreement reflects the competitiveness of ADNOC Gas’ supply offering and its ability to secure long-term partnerships that support business growth, strengthen resilience, and create shareholder value.
The agreement builds on an earlier partnership between the companies, which signed a three-year LNG supply deal in May 2023. Under that agreement, ADNOC Gas supplied LNG to TotalEnergies Gas and Power for distribution across international markets, with the deal valued at between $1 billion and $1.2 billion under market conditions at the time.
The deal also comes as ADNOC expands its LNG production capacity through the Ruwais LNG project in Abu Dhabi. The 9.6 mmt per year facility, in which TotalEnergies holds a 10% stake, is expected to begin operations in 2028 and more than double ADNOC Gas’ existing LNG production capacity.
ADNOC Gas operates LNG export facilities on Das Island, which have a current production capacity of approximately 6 million tons per year (mtpa). The company supplies around 60% of the UAE’s natural gas requirements and serves customers in more than 20 countries
