Cheiron Eyes New Concessions and Increased Investments in Egypt’s Energy Sector

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi received Alan Linn, CEO of Cheiron Energy, where they discussed the company’s activities in Egypt and its plans in its concession areas at the Mediterranean, the Western and Eastern Deserts, and the Gulf of Suez.

During the meeting, Badawi stressed that the Western Desert region has not yet revealed all its potential, especially in the field of unconventional oil and gas resources. He emphasized a strong desire from many international companies to work in this promising field in Egypt.

Additionally, Badawi highlighted the importance of modern technologies in achieving positive results for shale gas and offshore drilling operations at greater depths than were previously possible. This would bring great benefits to Egypt in terms of increased production and reserves.

He expressed the petroleum sector’s full support to international companies to carry out their operations. Badawi pointed to the integrated strategic partnerships which are key to achieving successes and common goals that benefit all parties.

For his part, Linn stressed Cheiron’s commitment to its operation and its belief in the promising investment opportunities in Egypt as well as its desire to acquire new concession areas, pump additional investments, intensify exploration and research operations, and maintain wells with the aim of maintaining and increasing production rates.

He mentioned that a joint workshop was held with petroleum sector companies to develop a long-term work program for the company in Egypt. The CEO stated that the company intends to bring an advanced hydraulic drilling rig to Egypt to begin fracturing drilling operations for shale gas, which has many benefits, including environmental conservation, cost reduction, and lower energy consumption. He pointed to the company’s success in raising production rates during the past period after well maintenance operations.
