Zvezda Shipyard Starts Work on Aframax Tanker

Russia’s Zvezda shipyard has constructed another Aframax tanker, named after Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, according to Rosneft.

The Aframax tanker is 250 meters in length, 44 meters wide, and 114,000 tonnes deadweight. The tanker is also equipped with the most advanced Class A automation system and will transport crude oil.

Twelve Aframax tankers have been commissioned to be built at the Zvezda complex. At current, there are five under construction at the shipyard. The first ship of the series was launched in May and is undergoing mooring tests.

The Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex is run by a consortium consisting of Rosneftegaz, Rosneft, and Gazprombank.
