Update: Egypt to Receive 2nd LNG Floating Terminal

After Ministry of Petroleum’s announcement earlier last month of the arrival of a 2nd terminal in August of this year. EGAS reported that plans to receive the floating terminal in Ain Sokhna have changed for security reasons.

According to a statement by a senior official at EGAS, a committee from the company was sent to study Adabiya Port. The committee agreed that the port can be prepared within a period of three to six months so that it can receive the second gasification ship to import an additional 500 mcf/d.

The official added that the second ship will have more than 42 liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments on an annual basis, and the single shipment volume will reach 140,000 to 170,000 cubic feet.

According to the official, EGAS is negotiating with a number of foreign companies to supply the gasification ship by the end of this year.
