Petroleum, Environment Ministers Review Environmental Compatibility Plans

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, discussed the industrial wastewater treatment issues in the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea region with Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environmental Affairs, according to a press release.

The two ministers reviewed the environmental compatibility plans of operating companies in the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea, in the meeting of the higher committee for environmental compatibility and reform chaired by El Molla.

Both ministers have affirmed the efforts taken by petroleum companies and environmental reform plans to solve the Gulf of Suez’s industrial wastewater treatment issues. Moreover, both ministers assured that there is a continuous follow-up to implement the environmental compatibility presidential mandate.

El Molla and Fouad emphasized the ongoing coordination between the two ministries and relevant companies to reach a consensus on the reform plans and take into consideration the utilization of the latest specialized technologies in industrial wastewater treatment operations.
