Petrojet Signs Teaming Agreement with Korean Companies

Petrojet signed a teaming agreement with South Korean nuclear power companies consist of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), KEPCO E&C, Hyundai E&C, and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (Doosan) to participate in the Egyptian first Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project, El Dabaa.

In this respect, Chung Jae-hoon, the CEO of KHNP, expressed his gratitude of the high level of the Egyptian construction market and ongoing mega projects. He also affirmed his commitment to localization while highlighting that KHNP plans to support training for Egypt’s local nuclear power technicians who have no previous experience with nuclear power plant construction.

Jae-hoon also emphasized the intentions to lead long-term partnerships rather than one-offs with local companies in Egypt.

It is worth noting that KHNP, KEPCO E&C, Hyundai E&C and Doosan will seek cooperation with local companies in Egypt based on their proven experiences, and capabilities in NPP projects in Korea and in the Barakah NPP project in the UAE.

Al Dabaa nuclear power plant will be built by JSC “Atomstroyexport” (JSC ASE), Russia as the general contractor for the project.
