MoPMR Launches Energy Capacity Building Training Program with EU, EBRD Support

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) launched an integrated program for building human capacities in the vital field of energy efficiency, in cooperation with the European Union (EU) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The first of the program’s activities was hosted by Khalda Petroleum Company in the “Salam” fields in the Western Desert. The program saw the participation of 17 companies.

The program was implemented in two phases: the first phase, theoretical training, was conducted from December 1st, 2024, to December 14th, 2024, in Cairo. The second phase, practical training, took place from April 6th to April 11th, 2025.

The program aims to enhance the technical capabilities of personnel working in petroleum sector companies and provide them with the practical knowledge to implement energy audits, conduct applied studies, and develop sustainable solutions for improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions, which will positively impact the environment and the national economy.

This cooperation with international institutions reflects the MoPMR commitment to achieving the seventh Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), affordable and clean energy, and the 13th goal, climate action. It also supports the implementation of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and its national strategy for transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
