Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has completed its biofuel project at Al-Ahmadi refinery after successfully launching the final two production units, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The coal and naphtha hydro treating units are expected to produce 37,000 and 8,400 barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil equivalent, respectively, Waleed al-Badr, KNPC’s CEO said. This would bring Al-Ahmadi’s total production of its 31 unites to 364,000 bbl/d.
The two units will be part of Mina Abdullah refinery, bringing the biofuel project capacity to 800,000 bbl/d with a cost of $14.7 billion, noted Abdullah al-Ajmi, KNPC’s Deputy CEO for projects.
