Japan’s Osaka Gas Receives First CNLNG from Shell

Japanese Osaka Gas Company has received its first carbon-neutral liquefied natural gas (CNLNG) shipment from Shell Eastern Trading (Shell) under an agreement signed between the two parties, according to a press release.

The cargo was delivered to Senboku LNG Terminal on July 6 from Brunei. 

Beginning from August 2021, Osaka’s Daigas Energy will receive the CNLNG shipment to deliver to its customers.

Those customers include Koatsu chemical industries, Nippon sheet glass company, Nesta Resort, and Rock Field company.

Moreover, Osaka Gas will supply wholesale carbon-neutral city gas and CNLNG to several gas utility companies.

On receiving the shipment, SEO of Osaka Gas Keiji Takemori said: “We would like to provide carbon neutral city gas to our customers as a way to enhance the value we offer to them. Through various initiatives including CNLNG, we strive to achieve our goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 in cooperation with our partners and stakeholder under our Carbon Neutral Vision we announced in January.”
