Harbour Energy Outlines Expansion Plans in Egypt During Meeting with Minister Badawi

On the sidelines of his visit to UK, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi visited the the headquarters of Harbour Energy in London accompanied by Sherif Kamel, the Egyptian Ambassador to UK, and Moataz Atef, the Underseceratry for the Technical Office and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR).

They were received by Linda Cook, CEO of Harbour Energy, and Sameh Sabry, the company’s Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa.

The meeting reviewed the status of the company’s projects in Egypt, and its future plans in the field of research and exploration after acquiring Wintershall Dea’s concession areas in Egypt in the Nile Delta and the Mediterranean.  

The CEO of the company expressed her aspiration to build on the successes achieved by the German company Wintershall Dea over the past years in the Egyptian petroleum sector, noting that Harbour Energy has developed an integrated strategy aimed at expanding oil and gas operations in Egypt on a large scale. 

For his part, Badawi highlighted the new initiatives launched by the MoPMR, including the new incentive package for foreign partners with the aim of increasing production. 

He called on the company to explore the promising investment opportunities offered by the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG).
