ExxonMobil is meeting with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to explore investment opportunities in Egypt, according to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, Al Mal News reports.
Despite the meetings, there are no current investment negotiations between the government and the international oil company, he noted.
The company has expressed interest in exploration for oil and gas in the Mediterranean, according to the newspaper.
At the end of November, El Molla indicated that the ministry and ExxonMobil were in talks, Reuters previously reported.
“We have been discussing with them, visiting them. They’ve visited us […] We are exploring all opportunities for having more and further upstreamers in Egypt,” he said on the sidelines of an OPEC meeting in Vienna.
