El Molla Participates in CERAWeek

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla is participating in the activities of the CERAWeek Global Energy Forum, which is held in Houston, USA, during the period 6-10 March 2023, the ministry said in a statement.

The CERAWeek gathers a number of ministers and leaders of the energy sector, in addition to many heads of international companies in the world.

El Molla explained that Egypt’s participation in this conference on a regular basis demonstrates the results achieved by the ministry’s strategy during the last period, pointing to the importance of this conference and its discussions and sessions, which tackles securing energy supplies, supporting emerging markets, energy transition, and environmental goals such as reducing emissions, improving consumption efficiency, observing the rights of countries to develop, benefiting from their natural resources, and others.

The minister stated that the conference is a good opportunity for more dialogue and cooperation with the partners of the oil industry to present and promote the investment opportunities enjoyed by the oil and gas industry in Egypt. This is especially since Egypt has put forward various international bids through the digital Egypt portal for research and exploration. In December 2022, a new global bid was launched to search for natural gas and crude oil in 12 regions in the Mediterranean and the Nile Delta, with six marine regions and the same on land.

Additionally, El Molla highlighted that the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) put forward the first international bid of its kind for the development of brown fields, including eight productive fields in the Gulf of Suez and the Eastern Desert regions, and that Egypt has achieved success stories, stability and real economic reform.

El Molla is participating as a keynote speaker in the ministerial plenary session, which discusses the energy transition efforts to reach net zero emissions while securing the necessary energy supplies to maintain the global economy, in light of the need for hydrocarbons in various aspects of life until the energy transition is achieved.
