Egyptian Petrochemical Company Ahmed Mowakea Chairman announced that the company has achieved its PVC production plan by 100% which exceeds 30,000 tons from received ethylene and 55,000 tons of caustic soda.
This came during the general assembly meeting of the company which chaired by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to approve its the planning budget of the fiscal year (FY) 2025/26.
He added that Egyptian Petrochemical exported 9,000 tons of PVC and 20,000 tons of caustic soda. The chairman noted that the company’s products attracted the attention of international companies and encouraged them to seek to establish factories adjacent to the company’s factories to benefit from these products.
Mowakea explained how the company is interested in relying on the local component and implementing development, replacement and renewal projects, in parallel with implementing an integrated plan to rationalize energy and reduce emissions.
He pointed out that several important projects are targeted, including adding a caustic soda concentration unit with a capacity of 150% and supplying and operating a 3D Modeling system.
Minister Badawi emphasized that efforts are currently focused on directing locally produced rich natural gas, particularly from the Western Desert region and select Mediterranean fields, towards the petrochemical industry. This strategic move aims to maximize added value by producing high-quality products that can be exported to global markets, ensuring significant economic returns.
He further noted that the goal is to operate petrochemical plants at full production capacity in the coming period by ensuring the availability of all necessary industry inputs.
Additionally, Badawi commended the company’s dedicated employees for their vital contributions in maintaining production rates, executing strategic projects, and implementing innovative solutions to optimize energy use and expenditure. He also highlighted their unwavering commitment to upholding occupational safety and health standards.
