Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, held a meeting with Angela Wilkinson, Secretary-General and CEO of the World Energy Council (WEC)to explore areas of cooperation between the two entities and the WEC’s role in providing the necessary development and training programs for cadres in the Egyptian petroleum sector and the expertise in climate adaptability.
The meeting dealt with the crucial role played by the WEC in supporting the global energy industry.
Wilkinson noted that the WEC, established over a century ago, is the oldest global energy platform. She emphasized the council’s support for energy transition projects and its introduction of the energy trilemma concept, stressing the importance of a fair and equitable energy transition.
She also highlighted the need to focus on climate adaptability alongside the energy transition.
She referred to the WEC’s extensive research role in the field of energy and its training and development programs for young leaders and women in various energy fields.
The meeting was attended by Moataz Atef, Head of the Central Administration of the Technical Office and official spokesman for the ministry.
