Egypt-US Energy Talks at Powering Africa Summit Focus on Strengthening Bilateral Collaboration

On the sidelines of the 10th Annual Powering Africa Summit held in Washington, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with his American counterpart Chris Wright, US Secretary of Energy.

Both ministers discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in the energy domain and exchanging expertise, especially in light of the significant development witnessed by the collaboration between both countries in this sector in recent years.

This was after the participation of major American companies such as ExxonMobil and Chevron into the upstream domain in Egypt.

They also discussed the recent agreement signed in Cairo with Chevron for developing the Cypriot Aphrodite gas field in the Eastern Mediterranean and connecting it to Egypt’s Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) export facilities.
