Qatar has truned down third-party requests of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to Egypt, LNG Industry informed. The Gulf country provides around 60% of Egypt’s LNG imports, but trade relations have been shaken since sanctions against Doha were imposed by Egypt and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Since the beginning of the diplomatic crisis early June, Qatar has rejected two shipment requests of LNG from Egypt without any explanations.
However, the sales restrictions do not impose a major impact on Egypt’s LNG balance. The North African country had already reduced supplies coming from Qatar and other producers.
Meanwhile, the Gulf country has directed its LNG cargoes to the European market.
