Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company has reduced its intake of natural gas, effective November 1, 2026. It has reorganized its production operations to optimize the use of available gas while maintaining ongoing production, according to a disclosure to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX).
The company did not disclose the exact rate of the reduction but said it received a notification to reduce its gas supply and implemented the directive. Both Egyptian Chemical Industries (KIMA) and Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) have reported 20% reductions inĀ natural gas supplies received by their plants.
Aby Qir Fertilizers has emphasized its operational flexibility and contingency plans covering inventory management and the rescheduling of periodic maintenance activities. These measures are intended to limit the potential impact on production and sales plans, as well as its contractual commitments to local and international customers, said Abu Qir Fertilizers.
The company is considered one of the largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers in Egypt and the Middle East. It also serves customers across 40 countries worldwide, exporting ammonia in addition to solid and liquid fertilizers.
