EGPC: Oil Ministry Inked 3rd LNG Platform Deal

In an exclusive statement to Egypt Oil&Gas, an official source at the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) clarified that the Ministry of Petroleum has inked a deal to construct a third platform for transferring LNG after being linked to the national grid. No further details were revealed.

The ministry is also exerting efforts to provide 2bcf/d of gas to start the operation of the third regasification unit during the second quarter of 2017.

The source also told Egypt Oil&Gas that there are five steps for securing natural gas imports, to meet all citizens’ demands in local markets, and prevent the recurrence of an energy crisis.

The steps include equipping the LNG port, after it has been linked to the national grid, and a plan to inject 500 mcf of gas to operate the first regasification unit set up in April 2015, in addition to another 750 mcf of gas to operate the second regasification unit opened in September 2015.
