EETC to Review Saudi-Interconnection Bids in March

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) delayed opening the technical and financial envelopes for the Egyptian-Saudi electrical interconnection cables and transformers tender until March 2017, reported Amwal Al Ghad English.

Sources at the Egyptian government stated that EEHC informed the companies with the new date. It stressed that the project and the tender will not be canceled.

In addition, a high-level Saudi delegation will visit Cairo during March in order to review the technical aspect of the project. Furthermore, EEHC will open the interconnection transformer stations tender mid March 2017.

The company that will win the tender should build an air-transmitter line of 450km from Badr City transformer station to Nabq station, as well as an 850km aero transmission line between Nabq station through Tabuk transformers to East Madina station.

Meanwhile, the company that wins the transformer stations contract will have to construct two 500kV AC/DC transformers stations in Badr City and another linking station to connect to the aero line in Nabq.
