UAE energy giant ADNOC has signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Indian gas distributor Gujarat Energy to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India from the international gas portfolio of XRG, ADNOC’s international investment company, according to a statement on November 6.

The agreement marks the first sale of molecules from XRG’s international portfolio, ADNOC added in the statement.

Under the agreement, Gujarat Energy will receive up to 4 million tons (mmt) of LNG over ten years, starting in 2028.

Rashid Al Mazrouei, Chief Marketing and Origination Officer (LNG) ADNOC, said: “Through our integrated LNG marketing and trading platform, we are connecting our growing international portfolio with customers in key regions across the global markets, while providing India with reliable, flexible and long-term LNG supplies.”

For his part, Avantika Singh Aulakh, Managing Director at Gujarat Energy, commented: “Natural gas is central to driving India’s shift toward cleaner energy, acting as a crucial lower-carbon option that boosts industrial efficiency, offers households a safer cooking fuel, and accelerates the growth of eco-friendly transportation.”

The agreement supports the expansion of ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading platform, which was launched in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026.

The platform has since signed supply agreements with Japan’s INPEX, Thailand’s Gulf Group and India’s Gujarat Energy, extending ADNOC’s reach across key Asian LNG markets. ADNOC aims to market 47 million tons per year (mtpa) of LNG beyond 2030, positioning itself among the world’s leading LNG suppliers.

The deal also marks a step forward in XRG’s development as an integrated global gas and LNG business. It allows XRG to connect LNG supplies from assets it owns outside the Gulf with demand in India through ADNOC’s trading platform.
