15 firms operating  in alternative energy in Egypt have acquired land plots to implement 15 renewable energy projects with total capacities of 720MW, reported Almal. An official at NREA said that the projects carried out include 14 solar power projects and one wind energy project. The total areas of the plots obtained by the firms are 14 sq. km for solar energy projects and 5 sq. km for wind power schemes.

The head of NREA Dr. Mohamed Al Sobky said that so far 57 memorandum of understandings have been signed with global firms and alliances implementing renewable energy tariff projects; adding that an area of 50 sq. km will be allocated for wind energy projects and an area of 47 sq. km will be allocated for solar power projects with total area of 97 sq. km.
