XEV, Eni Target the Italian Vehicle Assembly Sector

Since the launch of Enjoy electric car sharing in Turin, the collaboration between Eni and XEV has expanded, and it is now focused on decarbonization.

A cooperation agreement has been signed between the two companies to communicate and explore opportunities for collaboration in the areas of research into sustainable mobility systems, the development of battery swapping technology, and assembly of the car manufacturer’s vehicles.

XEV designs and produces electric vehicles, as well as integrated charging and connection systems. An integrated energy company, Eni aims to achieve total decarbonization of products and processes by 2050 through concrete actions. Both companies strive to offer innovative and environmentally friendly services and products to motorists.

Together, the companies will develop the electric city car sector, including the implementation of XEV’s battery swapping technology, as well as the possibility of assembly of XEV vehicles or parts of them in Italy and management of the battery life cycle from production to installation, maintenance, and end-of-life recycling.

It will be used to address the feasibility of an industrial project by Eni to produce vehicle parts, accessories, and tires from industrial sites in Italy, as well as using renewable chemistry.

Giuseppe Ricci, General Manager of Energy Evolution at Eni, said: “I am particularly happy that we have this innovative partnership, which involves the future of new generations, the energy transition and Eni’s multidisciplinary approach. It is a future that we at Eni know how to imagine, and one that we enjoy building together with partners who know how to work as a team with passion and enthusiasm.”
