Solar Energy Worth $1.5m to be Built in Dakahlia

Dakahlia governor Hossam El-Din Imam announced that the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOL) is set to install five solar photovoltaic power plants in Dakahlia governorate, reported Amwal Al Ghad.

The governorate had signed the contract with AOL, an entity owned by the Egyptian military, with an aim towards upgrading the power system and implementing the new electricity rationalization policy to governmental authorities and public roads. The contract was also meant to provide the governorate with a source of clean energy and included the building of a solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of one megawatt in Gamasa. This would cost 12 million Egyptian pounds (US$1.5 million) and would up production of power by Egyptians firms to more than 90%.

The solar panels produced by AOI meet European standards of quality, the governor explained, adding that the four remaining solar power plants would be located in Mansoura at total cost of 1.8 million pounds. They would measure in at 21, 24, 30, and 36 kilowatts respectively.
