PM Follows up on Efforts to Enhance Added Value of Mining Resources

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has met with several ministries and officials in the mining sector with the attendance of the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla to discuss maximizing the added value of mineral resources in Egypt.

During the meeting, proposals for the national exploration of gold, radioactive elements and associated minerals were reviewed. The head of the Nuclear Materials Authority Hamed Mira explained the role of the Authority in these proposals.

Mira noted that the Authority will hand over various data related to the aerial survey of areas of land nationwide to explore gold and associated minerals to the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) in order to take advantage of them and prepare a detailed analysis of the results and reports on the possibilities of mineral concentration in those lands.

The meeting also tackled the great efforts exerted to benefit from human, technological and scientific capabilities as well as the expertise of EMRA and Nuclear Materials Authority in this regard.

The Prime Minister chaired another meeting to discuss the ways of boosting investments in quartz and white sand as part of the country’s efforts to localize the electronic chips industry in Egypt.

During the meeting, the ways of securing the sustainability of quartz and white sand were discussed in addition to how to maximize their added value.

Moreover, the meeting included coordination to enhance the private sector to invest in establishing industrial complexes for white sand. These complexes will also comprise plants for high-quality glasses, crystal, and hydraulic fracturing sand which is used in petroleum wells to increase production.
