Ministerial Panel Talk Sustainable Mining at Egypt Mining Forum 2023

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla stated that achieving the best exploitation of natural and mineral resources in the region and the African continent requires continued cooperation and coordination between governments, investors, and the public and private sectors.

This came during his participation in the ministerial panel titled ‘Balancing Resources and Responsibility – Collaborative Strategies for Sustainable Mining in Developing Countries’, within the activities of the Egypt Mining Forum, which launched its work today. The session witnessed the participation of El Molla; Bandar Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Yonis Ali Guedi, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Djibouti; Domingo Mba Esono, Vice Minister of Mines & Hydrocarbons of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea; and George Mireku Duker, Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources of Ghana.

El Molla reviewed the efforts of the ministry, which focused on creating an investment climate in the Egyptian mining sector as a basic pillar to launch this sector, achieve success, and put the mining sector in Egypt on the right path.

During the session, Alkhorayef expressed his happiness at attending the forum and participating in its activities. He explained that the Africa, Middle East and Asia regions have great opportunities in the mining sectors, and they must cooperate more and work to achieve success stories and then attract more investments.

Meanwhile, Esono said that this conference is a good opportunity to present the vision of non-producing countries such as Guinea to develop the mining industry. He pointed out that the new measures and policies taken by the government contributed to the existence of several exploration licenses and the work of several mining companies in the country.

Additionally, Duker highlighted the importance of having clear and stable systems that facilitate companies and investors to perform their work and pump investments.
