Madbouly Reviews Petroleum Products Distribution Systems

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali El Moselhi to follow up on the progress of developing a system for trading and distributing petroleum products.

The meeting was attended by Alaa El Batal, Chairman of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), Ayman Abdel Badie, EGPC’s Vice Chairman for Transport and Distribution, and Mahmoud Nagy, Assistant Minister of Petroleum for Transport and Distribution of Petroleum Products.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the development that this system is witnessing, as it imposes a framework of precision through the use of digital transformation tools, in a way that guarantees the availability of these products in the markets.

During the meeting, El Molla presented the status of the program for developing and modernizing the petroleum products trading system.

The program, which was launched in 2016, aims to make it a modern system that operates in an automatic and mechanized manner so that this includes the operations of shipping and trading petroleum products.

El Molla explained that the implementation of the scheme for developing and modernizing the system is based on several axes, the first of which is the complete mechanization of petroleum product shipments between warehouses and fuel stations.

The minister added that the axes of developing the system also include an automatic tracking system (GPS) in the units operating in the transport of petroleum products. This helps in monitoring fuel transport vehicles during the transport process.

At the end of the meeting, El Molla presented several mechanisms that will be coordinated with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade as well as the concerned authorities to ensure the governance of this system, and not to leak these subsidized petroleum products, or profit from them.
