Innovative Technologies, Success Stories Take Center Stage AT EPEEC

The Second Egyptian Petroleum Sector Energy Efficiency Conference (EPEEC 2019), under the theme “from Success to Sustainability,” concluded today at the Sky Executive Resort in New Cairo.

Building on the discussions of the first day, the event continued highlighting the significance of energy efficiency by presenting success stories and the latest technologies that can help achieve the sector’s strategic targets.

The first session of the second and final day of EPEEC discussed energy efficiency technologies and ways to incorporate them within the Egyptian petroleum sector.

“We want to build capacities in your engineers and make the environment attractive to retain talent,” said Joan S. Sanroma, BD Visual MESA, IMENA, KPC Process Technology.

The second session featured success stories in applying energy efficiency practices in the sector, from the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO), to Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO), ANRPC, Ethydco, Amerya Petroleum Refining Co. (APRCO), and Amreya Petroleum Refining Co. (APRC).

“GASCO has succeeded in establishing an energy management system according to ISO 50001 in nine sites. Now, GASCO is working on qualifying all of its sites to soon be accredited according to ISO 50001.” Mohamed Tash, Energy Conservation Assistant General Manager at GASCO.

Afterwards, the third session focused on energy efficiency framework and policies. Vagn Jorgensen, an energy expert at the European Union (EU) said that the EU have almost achieved the goal for renewable energy for 2020, but is a bit behind in meeting energy efficiency targets. “Voluntary agreements and white certificates are among the EU energy efficiency regulation tool,” he added.

In the fourth session, energy services companies and institutes were given an opportunity to showcase their success stories, as Petroject, Engineering for Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI) Egyptian Projects Operation and Maintenance (EPROM), Korra-Energi, and Gascool presented case studies from their respective project portfolios.

The event gathered industry leaders, energy and technology experts, alongside representatives of financing institutions and multinational corporations over the two days of conference and exhibition.

Egypt Oil & Gas is the official media partner of EPEEC 2019. The event is organized by the Ministry of Petroleum in cooperation with Enppi and Petrojet.
