Electricity Ministry Launches Awareness Campaign

The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity is to launch a public awareness campaign that encourages the citizens to become more conscious towards their energy consumption in order to help solve the recent energy crisis that the country is facing, reports Daily News Egypt.

This EGP 40m advertising campaign will be financed by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and last for three years.

It aims to spread the culture of electricity rationing among the Egyptian citizens thus reduce the electricity consumption by 20% in the Egyptian households, according to Egyptian Streets.

Drawing the Egyptians’ awareness towards such important topic and successfully reducing their power consumption will also contribute to decreasing the amount of fuel used to generate electricity and save the state billions of Egyptian Pounds that could be invested in other industrial sectors within the country.
