Egyptian electricity consumption increased by 2.88% year-on-year (YOY) in August 2018, recording 14.3 megawatts per hour (MWh) compared to 13.9 MWh in August 2017, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
Statistics published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reveal that the country’s electricity output increased by 0.5% YOY, from 19.7 MWh in August 2017 to reach 19.8 MWh in August 2018.
The residential sector consumed the largest portion of the country’s electricity in August 2018, using 6 MWh or 41.9% of the country’s total consumption.
The industrial sector used 25.9% of the country’s total electricity consumption (3.7 MWh), making it the country’s second largest electricity consumer.
