Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi attended the general assembly meeting of Egypt Gas Company to approve and discuss its fiscal year results for 2024, praising its past years achievements across Egypt.
Egypt Gas Company has a clear footprint and an important role in implementing the six pillars of the ministry’s current strategy, said Badawi.
These pillars involve providing citizens’ need of petroleum products with the lowest costs through boosting oil and gas production via intensified exploration activities, infrastructure optimization, accelerating renewable energy integration to achieve 42% green energy in Egypt’s mix by 2030, strengthening regional cooperation to leverage Egypt’s strategic location as an energy hub, prioritizing HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) standards to attract global investments, and modernizing mineral resources to drive economic growth.
The ministry, the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) continue to provide all forms of support to Egypt Gas to expand its operations inside and outside Egypt, achieving added value and returns for the national economy, Badawi noted.
For his part, Chairman and CEO of Egypt Gas, Wael Gowayed, reviewed the company’s most notable achievements in 2024, reaching approximately 31 million total working hours.
Egypt Gas has reached 100% completion of Phase 1 of the Decent Life initiative, delivering gas to households in five governorates: Dakahlia, Gharbia, Menoufia, Qalyubia, and Luxor, said Gowayed.
The company also implemented aviation fuel stations at Asyut and New Alamein airports and established polyethylene pipe factories in Ain Sokhna for EGAS and 10th of Ramadan City for EGFCO, in addition to several drinking water desalination plants in Aswan, he added.
Gowayed reviewed the company’s regional operations, highlighting several strategic projects, including gas supply to industrial cities in Jordan, including the Al-Qastal Industrial Zone, Al-Quweira Industrial City in Aqaba, and Al-Hashimiya Industrial City in Zarqa Governorate, in addition to developing and upgrading 10 pressure reduction and measurement stations on the Arab Gas Pipeline.
The company also provided offshore platform maintenance services in Saudi Arabia for the Khafji Joint Operations (KJO), constructed the main drinking water network and domestic connections in the Lakabi area in Oman, and completed the gas injection pipeline modification project and the transfer of associated wellheads in the Asab oil field in Abu Dhabi for the ADNOC Company, he said.
Looking ahead, Gowayed said that Egypt Gas plans to achieve 15% annual growth over the next three years, in which the company aims to restore natural gas supply rates to its previous levels in cooperation with EGAS, boosting its customer services in the New Administrative Capital and other governorates while expanding its footprint in Egypt and abroad.
