The Egyptian Parliament approved on July 22 four oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P) agreements. The concessions include an onshore project in North Sinai involving Perenco, a UK-French independent oil and gas production company.

The parliamentary approvals cover exploration and production activities distributed across North Sinai, the Nile Delta, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Eastern Desert, according to Reuters.

Under one of the key agreements, Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), along with Perenco North Sinai Petroleum, will explore the Al-Fayrouz onshore block located in North Sinai.

Perenco North Sinai Petroleum has been operating on the North Sinai concession since 2014. The entity is a subsidiary of Valmore Holding, a firm previously known as the Egypt Kuwait Holding (EKH).

The Al-Fayrouz block, which was awarded in June 2025 through EGAS’s 2024 international bid round, represents a new onshore exploration frontier for the company. The planned work program includes conducting a 3D seismic survey and drilling one exploration well.
