The Egyptian Fajr Natural Gas Company reduced electricity consumption at its headquarters by 67%, recording annual savings of EGP 900,000, an achievement hailed by Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, during the company’s general assembly meeting. The savings were driven by a solar power generation station that the company established in its parking areas, according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR).

This aligns with the government’s policy to increase dependence on solar energy. Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly has recently called for an initiative to encourage companies’ dependence on solar generation plants.

Fajr Chairman Ehab Kamal reported that 2025 marked a strategic turning point as the company transitioned from planning to execution. The company recorded its first operating revenues from integrated service stations through the “El Banafseg” station in New Cairo, which provides natural gas fueling and electric vehicle (EV) charging services.

Kamal highlighted the ongoing development of an integrated green energy hub in 6th of October City. The design and supervision for the project were assigned to Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI), in collaboration with the Natural Gas Vehicles Company (Cargas) and Ikarus Electric.

In a strategic partnership with Ikarus Electric and Cargas, Egyptian Fajr is managing EV charging points at the Cargas station in Almaza, Heliopolis. Kamal affirmed the company’s objective of utilizing vacant land owned by sister companies in the petroleum sector to expand its integrated station network and enhance economic returns.

Badawi emphasized the necessity of a comprehensive corporate identity for Egyptian Fajr to bolster its competitiveness both domestically and internationally. He noted that the expansion into integrated services and maintenance centers aligns with the state’s transition toward clean energy.

Established in 2003, Egyptian Fajr Natural Gas Company is a leading joint-stock entity specializing in natural gas marketing, distribution, and infrastructure development. The company manages the full lifecycle of natural gas networks, including financing, design, and maintenance, for industrial and commercial use. Its strategic expansion is supported by an ownership structure comprising the Ministry of Finance (25%), the National Investment Bank (25%), EGAS (16.7%), GASCO (16.7%), ENPPI (8.3%), and Petrojet (8.3%).

Moreover, Egyptian Fajr Natural Gas Company holds 100% of the shareholders’ equity in the Egyptian Jordanian Fajr for Natural Gas Transmission and Supply. This subsidiary was established as a leading entity to finance, execute, and operate the Arab Gas Pipeline project within Jordan.
