Dana Gas, the Middle East’s largest private sector natural gas Company, and Crescent Petroleum have commenced natural gas supplies from the Khor Mor field in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region to the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity under a one-year agreement to support power generation at the Kirkuk Taza power station, according to a press release by Dana Gas.

Under the agreement, signed with Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity in December 2025, the companies, acting as joint operators of the Kurdistan Gas Project, will supply 100 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) of natural gas from the Khor Mor gas processing facility for an initial one-year term. The additional gas is intended to improve electricity generation and enhance power services across Iraq.

The agreement marks the first delivery of gas from Khor Mor directly to Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity and follows the completion of the KM250 expansion project, which increased the field’s processing capacity by 50% to 750 mmscf/d. The added capacity has enabled Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum to expand gas sales beyond the Kurdistan Region and supply new domestic markets through pipeline infrastructure.

According to the companies, the Khor Mor gas project currently supplies fuel for more than 80% of electricity generation in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), providing power to more than 8 million people across the KRI and other Iraqi governorates. Total investment in the project has exceeded $4 billion, while operations have created more than 47,000 direct and indirect jobs, with further growth expected as new expansion projects come online.
