Azerbaijan and Egypt will discuss cooperation in the oil industry during Energy Minister Natig Aliyev’s visit to Cairo on 14 to 18 December.
The visit is being made at the invitation of Egyptian Oil Minister Sameh Fahmy, who was recently appointed president of the forum of gas exporting countries.
The Azerbaijani delegation will include the rector of the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Siyavush Garayev, and representatives of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, the Ministry for Energy and Industry reported.
A number of proposals were made when Sameh Fahmy visited Baku in July, including on the joint development of oil and gas fields and the opening of a branch of the Oil Academy in Egypt.
“During the visit to Egypt, Aliyev will discuss specific agreements on cooperation in these spheres,” the ministry said.
Natig Aliyev is expected to meet Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif during the visit.
